SW COLORADO, TELLURIDE

We're up at 7:00 PM but Dennis is already packed and gone.  He likes to be on the road by dawn so he can escape the crowded highways and the heat.  We pack up, fill the water tank and head for Pandora, the town at the end of the road.  From there we (all 5 of us) hike a continuous switch-back trail up to the top of Bridal Veil Falls.  The elevation gain is 1,800 feet.  At the top of the falls is a hydro-electric plant that produced the first DC electricity in the world.  It still provides power for the grid.

We cruise back through Telluride for the last time as we head for Orvis Hot Springs.  These pools have been developed into the natural landscape and the bathing is clothing option which makes Peggy happy.  Now we head north to Montrose which was a mining supply center.  It's down on the flat land and has all the conveniences so we do KFC and then DQ for ice cream.  It's so hot we take a campsite just so we can run the AC.

Just me and the girls.

Gaining 1,800 feet of elevation is tough work.
