CENTRAL COLORADO, MANITOU SPRINGS

We return to Manitou Springs and have an early lunch.  I don't want Peggy to have to shop on an empty stomach.  This has the biggest arcade I have ever seen.  We sample several of the soda springs around town and they all taste the same-like soda water.  We help with the local economy and then visit the Miramont Castle, built in 1895 for a Catholic priest.  It has 42 rooms and 14,000 square feet.  It housed only the priest and his mother but they had 8 servants.  It is now a museum and tea room.

We take a site at the Lone Duck Campground.  On our way up we see the effects of the Waldo Canyon fire.  It came down almost to the houses along the road.  There are banners everywhere thanking the firefighters.  The problem now is the rains are washing all this black soot and soil out onto the roads.
