Wilcox, AZ to Tombstone, AZ

A bright sunrise wakes us up.  We retrace our route back to Bowie and then to the Arizona Visitors Center in Wilcox.  Here we find a map with directions to Hot Well Dunes.  Oh well, maybe next time.

We pass through the desert resort town of Sunsites and then back into the Dragoon mountains to Cochise Stronghold.  We take a two mile hike through the hills and canyons where Cochise, a Chiricahua Apache Chief, would come and hide out.  After being wrongly accused of robbery and murder he began what is called the Apache Wars, 1861 to 1874.  Geronimo was his son-in-law and kept up the fight until he surrendered in 1886.

Next we travel to Tombstone where we have supper at the Johnny Ringo Steakhouse and then take a site at the Wells Fargo RV Park right next to the famous OK Corral.
