SW COLORADO, ALAMOSA TO DURANGO

After breakfast in Alamosa we go up the Rio Grande River as it comes out of the San Juan Mountains.  We stop at an elk ranch and buy some meat.  We see the smoke from the Pagosa fire.  We try to visit the Chimney Rock Archeological Area but we're too late for a tour.  We cruise into Durango and begin arrangements so we can ride a train tomorrow.  After a trout dinner we park at the 'doggie' daycare for the night.
