ROSWELL, NEW MEXICO

MERRY CHRISTMAS

The Mitchell family on Christmas day...snoozing, all of them, except Peg. A picture is worth a thousand words. Look at these pictures of peace and contentment.

Dixie in deep slumber.
Poudre in deep slumber.
Sky in deep slumber.

Ho, Ho, Ho and Merry Christmas. It looks like Santa found us last night...at least for the dogs. They each get a brand new toy. I get chocolates and Peggy gets my love.

After an Ihop Christmas breakfast I have to lay down and recover. There's free wifi here so Peggy catches up on posting. It starts blowing snow so I think we're in a pretty good spot to be snowed in. About noon the snow stops and the sun comes out and starts melting away the ice. By 3:00PM it's slushy enough to drive on so we head west, leaving Roswell, where in 1947, allegedly an extra-terrestrial spacecraft and its alien occupants crashed.... The sagebrush gives way to mesquite bush, pinion pine and juniper as we enter the Capitan Mountains. We stop in Lincoln at the state monument. We park in the visitor center lot and heat up leftovers for our Christmas dinner.
