Tombstone, AZ

It's 24 degrees this morning, our coldest yet.  The locals tell us that is is unseasonably cold and that records are being broken in southern Arizona.

We find a geocache in front of the Crystal Palace Saloon and then take a tour of the Good Enough silver mine.  This was the largest mine around and several of the streets in town are closed because mine shafts run under them.  It is estimated there are over 300 miles of mine shafts in the area.  The silver ore was hauled down to the San Pedro river where it was processed into 185lb bars and then sent to the U.S. mint in New Orleans where it was made into silver dollars.

We tour Boot Hill cemetery where over 2,000 souls are buried.  Most of them are unknown.  We've been here three days and now I think we can say we have "done" Tombstone.  We travel north to Benson and take a $23.00 RV site so we can plug into the electricity to help fight the cold.
