We motor into the tourist town of Grand Lake. Grand Lake is the largest and deepest (400 feet) glacial lake in the state. Peggy spends a couple of hours shopping but buys nothing (?). We resupply in Granby and then head north up Willow Creek. We take a forest service campsite in the Arapaho National Forest. The pine bark beetle has really decimated the forest through here. In some places about 2/3 of the trees are dead.
